The Dart Music Festival Foundation is to receive a donation from the debut concert of Dartmouth Rock - Dartmouth's very own a cappella rock/pop choir, who will be singing unaccompanied arrangements of some of the best known songs from the past six decades, including hits by The Beatles, James Taylor, Adele,Snow Patrol, Fleet Foxes, The Everly Brothers, Take That, Abba and more.
Dartmouth Rock at St Clement's Church |
The Choir will be singing their hearts out at the Flavel on Friday 4th April at 8.00pm to raise funds for both the Foundation and Dartmouth Caring Memory Cafe's 'Singing for the Brain' initiative. They'll be supported by local singing group Pretty Noisy, and
will no doubt be feeling Pretty Nervous as this is their first official public
performance - but we are assured that they will be alright on the
night... (only kidding - word on the street is they are raring to go!)
If you want to come along - not only to enjoy some great harmonies from local singers but to help support Dartmouth Music Festival Foundation (more of which below) and the Memory Cafe - you can
book your tickets from the Flavel Box Office on 01803 839530. They are just £8, or £5 for under 18s.
Personally, we are really looking forward to it - how about you...?
P.S. Dartmouth Rock will also be performing at the Festival - details in the programme.

More about Dart Music Festival Foundation
The Dart Music Festival reported its first surplus in 2009 and this
led to the birth of an idea that, in addition to three days of fantastic
music, the Festival could extend its activities to provide support to
those with musical interests and ambitions living in and around
Dartmouth. The Foundation was set up in 2010 and has been registered as a charity. The first trustees are Pam Braakenburg ( Chairman of Dart Music Festival), Laurie Preece and Tim Hailstone.
Chaz Thorogood |
Since its inception the Foundation has helped a number of young
people with various projects ranging from funding music lessons,
purchase of musical instruments, funding of studio time and help with
travel to take lessons.
We have also funded equipment for a new Drumline
workshop at Dartmouth Academy.
Chaz Thorogood is a Foundation recipient who made his debut at Dart Music Festival and is performing at this year's Glastonbury Festival. The boy done good...
It is hoped that those we have helped will take part in a fundraising event during 2014. We are actively seeking financial support from benefactors and
patrons so we may build a solid endowment for future years.
