Winter Mountain at Dart Music Festival

Since signing to UK Booking Agency, Midnight Mango, in December and signing to prestigious Publishers Faber Music, WINTER MOUNTAIN are embarking on their first headline tour of the UK and Ireland.

They'll be taking in over twenty five headlines shows and eighteen festivals over the summer - not to mention countless shows opening for the likes of Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman and others.

Joe and Martin's continued rise on the UK music scene is inspiring but not altogether surprising, when you hear their incredible songs and read their reviews. Upon releasing their eponymous debut in August 2013 the Sunday Express gave it five stars, calling it "An utterly fabulous record" and WINTER MOUNTAIN have been winning legions of fans across the country with their beautiful vocal harmonies which are reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers.

Having performed at the Dart Music Festival last year they are returning with the intention of making yet another big impression.

Not one to miss!

LILY & MEG at Dart Music Festival

Lily & Meg
Lily & Meg are a multi-instrumental acoustic roots duo blending banjo, guitar, keys, harmonica and vocals.

Lily originally from Birmingham and Meg from London, they met in the South West town of Falmouth in April 2012 and sparked a natural musical partnership after discovering a mutual love for intricate harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and timeless song-writing.

2013 was a fantastic year for Lily & Meg. They performed at high profile venues such as The Bedford in London, The Exeter Phoenix Centre and London’s famous folk club, The Green Note. They played a summer of festivals, including, The Eden Sessions, Relentless Boardmasters and were invited to perform at Sweden’s Dragonfly Festival in Gothenburg.

They supported the Brit Award Winning and celebrated producer, Ethan Johns, on the opening show of his debut album tour. After releasing their debut EP, ‘Songs For Jasper’ they completed their first national tour in the autumn of 2013, supporting singer-songwriter Ruarri Joseph.

2014 has kicked off to a great start for the girls – they were recently asked to open for Seth Lakeman’s sold out show at Truro Cathedral by the man himself, and they look forward to the launch of their second EP titled ‘In The Water’ at London’s St Pancras Old Church in April.

The Porter Family supports Dart Music Festival - thank you!

Our thanks as always to the lovely, friendly and very talented Porter Family who entertained us with their brilliant fund raiser performance at The Windjammer on Sunday night. Our sincere thanks also to Mary and Andy who hosted the event.

A good time was had by all - as always - and a very welcome £210 was raised to support the Festival.
Barney, Hannah, Tim, Helen and Beth Porter
Here's an update on what the Porters have been up to...

Beth has toured the UK with dreadlocked singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner this year, and last year with Eliza Carthy and Jim Moray's 'Wayward Tour'. (N.B. Beth is also performing with The Bookshop Band during the Festival - see website for details)

Helen is Musical Director of the April production of the 'Pyjama Game' musical at Chipping Norton theatre.

Hannah currently plays in various bands in the Warwickshire area, and produces mountains of illustration work.

Tim has been running numerous musical events lately, including the Banbury Blues & Roots Festival.

Barney sadly won't be here for The Porters' Festival gig this year, as he's busy with his function band.

Thanks very much guys - we really appreciate your support!

Dart Music Festival - Blues, Funk & More from BROTHERS GROOVE

In an industry dominated by manufactured bands and artists, it is an extremely rare thing to find a real band, a band of brothers, fellow musicians that truly connect, both musically and in friendship; Brothers Groove is just that!

This Birmingham-based band are winning the hearts and minds of the UK blues scene with their characterful groove , superior tones, seriously catchy songs and genuine Brummie friendliness and the word is spreading fast.

With the love of funk and blues dominating the band's sound and years spent soaking up the likes of The Average White Band, The Crusaders, James Taylor Quartet, Little Feat, Eric Clapton, Robben Ford, SRV, Robert Cray and Albert Collins, in the respective funk and blues departments, Brothers Groove set out to make real music, music that they love and cherish.

Their goal firmly intact, they have uniquely fused all these influences into a sound all of their own. Classic songs, riffs a-plenty, big grooves, heavy, delicate and always funky. Taking this sound to the stage is where you see the Brothers excel, with performance after performance of awe-inspiring delivery, class, touch and emotion all playing their part in equal measure.

Their debut (studio) album ‘Play The Game’ (released January 2014), produced by award winning producer Wayne Proctor ( Wayne also produced the chart topping Blues albums for Oli Brown, King King, Aynsley Lister) and mastered by the legendary Jon Astley (Jon mastered for Eric Clapton, John Mayall The Who, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney and many other major artists) is an expert exploration of all things blues and groove, each song crafted to make your head nod, your body shake and your lips whistle the tune.

The twin guitars of Shaun Hill and Nigel Mellor beautifully working together and never in competition, to forge crafty, hook-laden rhythms with deep sonic landscapes. Add into this the Norman Watt-Roy informed bass of Deano Bass, and you have a wonderful blues alchemy at play.

The Brothers are keen to point out that the album 'Play The Game' isn't an album of self-indulgent egos battling for space, it's not about playing a million notes a second, this band sit in the pocket of the groove, play with taste and feeling and love every single minute of it. Their enthusiasm is as infectious on record as it is in a packed club, a fact every audience who has seen them perform will testify to. With lyrical themes inspiring the albums title, "Play The Game" is all about life, love, the highs, the lows, the game of chance and all the emotions in-between.

The name Brothers Groove could not be better fitting for Shaun Hill (vocals & guitar), Nigel Mellor (Guitar) and Deano Bass (Bass Guitar) as these three instrumentalists who first and foremost, have a brother-like friendship and camaraderie, along with fantastic musicianship on each part, that paves the way for an exciting and fruitful musical future.

Birmingham’s musical secret is a secret no more.
“PLAY THE GAME”
is out now and the boys are on the road!
