We are delighted to welcome back classical and jazz saxophonist Jade Gall, who will be performing a completely solo saxophone recital.
The programme will include works by Debussy, Bach, Andy Scott, Michael McGlynn and also two pieces with electronics by Karen Tanaka and Graham Fitkin.
Jade graduated in 2013 from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as a Master of Arts in Music Performance. During this time she was given the fantastic opportunity to perform a solo concert as part of the
Welsh Proms at St. David's Hall on the Lefel 1 stage where she got to
premier a new work for Tenor Saxophone that she had commissioned.
She studied with Lara James and Gerard McChrystal during her time there and she is now going on to pursue her love for the Tenor Saxophone. She is currently studying jazz with her very first tutor, jazz saxophonist Martin Dale.
In 2013 and 2014, she also performed alongside Devon based band 'Michael Campari and the Solar System' at Glastonbury Festival. Jade has performed at Calstock Arts both as a classical soloist and also with her jazz quartet, which features a team of highly talented musicians consisting of Neil Burns on guitar, Kevin Sanders on bass and Ric Byer on drums.
From the success of last year's concert recital at the Dart Music Festival in St Saviour's Church she will be performing again at Dartmouth Music Festival 2015 for a completely solo concert.
Although she is primarily a classical and jazz saxophonist, you can regularly see Jade playing Ska with ska band 'The Simmertones' who have recently had many plays on Radio 2 with their latest single 'Perhaps' which features Doris Day.
Over recent years Jade has attended many masterclasses and workshops, these include sessions with Gerard McChrystal, Andy Scott, Vincent David, Sarah Markham and the Traditional Cubano Trio. Jade has also taken part in orchestral rehearsals with The Rehearsal Orchestra.
Jade is very keen in promoting the saxophone as a worthy classical concert instrument, especially the tenor saxophone, which is where she feels most at home. She is always actively organising concerts in and around the Devon Area. Although Jade is a classically trained saxophonist, she loves to play in other styles of music, particularly Jazz.
Jade aspires to be an internationally renowned saxophonist, and wants to commission as many new works for the tenor saxophone as possible, to enable it to acquire the following and popularity that it deserves.
