Dart Music Festival Workshops

We are lucky enough this year to have lots of lovely workshops during the Festival, with something for everyone...

SINGING WORKSHOP WITH HELEN YEOMANS FROM GLORIOUS CHORUS

Helen Yeomans, director and award-winning songwriter for acclaimed Devon-based performance choir Glorious Chorus comes to Dart Music Festival to run a singing workshop on Sat 16th May.

If you have sung in a community choir you will have sung Helen’s songs - fresh, heartful and uplifting, they resonate with the themes of today’s world and a whole new generation of singers.

Harmony at its best, Helen will ensure all those who come, whether beginner or experienced choir singer, leave feeling completely fulfilled.  Expect to be moved!   http://www.helenyeomans.co.uk/

A SINGING WORKSHOP FOR ALL WITH A DIFFERENCE!

Peter Knapp is an Opera Maestro in many forms, as a singer a director a translator and a raconteur!
For those who think they can’t sing he will find your voice!

For those who can sing he will create a masterpiece!

Peter has worked all over the world from Australia, South America to France and the Far East he has gathered priceless operatic moments on these travels which I am sure that he will be sharing with us during this workshop.

He will be performing with his singers and musicians in “All you ever wanted to know about Opera” on Friday evening and hoping that those from his morning workshop will take part in the performance!

SAXOPHONE MASTERCLASS WITH TIM WATSON

Dr Tim Watson’s workshop features a piece named ’Sclapax Funky Blues’.

This piece was written by Tim specifically for workshops and incorporates different types of clapping/ensemble saxophone playing, along the lines of a distorted Funky Blues.

This workshop aims to give all players a sense of fun whilst leaning about different musical concepts of sound together with some improvisation for those who want to express themselves over chord solos.

All Sax players welcome but grade 3 reading and good musical aptitude would help!

This is a great opportunity for sax players during the festival.

Paul will be appearing at various venues around Dartmouth on Music Festival Saturday.More information on Poco Drom can be found at:  http://www.pocodrom.com

LOOP MACHINE WORKSHOP WITH

This workshop is an opportunity for people of all ages to work together in a fun environment. A loop machine is a modern device used by some musicians. It allows sounds to be layered up like a choir or a big band. With the help of Ash Mandrake, you will have an opportunity to use the loop machine in small groups and individually.

The emphasis is not on producing a polished piece of music, it is on having fun and experimenting with all types of sounds. Previous participants in these workshops have been astonished and inspired by what they or their children have created.

Be prepared to use your voice, sing in rounds, use a microphone and have some fun! This workshop is suitable for all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult.
