Meet the Musicians - Three
Christoven Gerard Tan Choon Keat and Kesari Pundarika
Singaporean violist, Christoven Tan, graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with First-class honors.
His principal teachers included Mgr. Jiri Heger, Michelle Li Min Zhe and Volker Hartung. He is currently studying with Jon Thorne and James sleigh at the RAM in London.
He has been actively involved in the Singapore music scene; playing for Opera productions (SLO), TPO, Re:mix and Chamber Players.
Christoven has collaborated with local pianist Low Shao Ying, the Artsylum Quartet, Guitarist Andrew Lim, Philip Tan of Philbeat. Christoven has also premiered local composer Zechariah Goh Toh Chai's Drive Fast, Drive Slow and Alicia Joyce de Silva Cadenza.
In recent years, Christoven has been an active supporter of modern solo or chamber works for the viola. He has also been pursuing a multi-disciplinary art form with playing the viola. He has got to work with Arts Fission Dance Company to improvise on a project based on the influences on the Ang Kor Wat. In 2009, Christoven worked with Re:mix to perform for The President's Command, which collaborated with Iskandar Ismail. Christoven has collaborated with Odyssey dance theatre to be their Artist-in-residence 2012 with the Artsylum Quartet. In serving the National Service, Christoven accepted in the SAF Music and Drama Company. He has played for ministers and presidents of other nations for several cultural and political events
Summer schools included the Meadowmount School of Music, the Bötersheim Festival and the Interlochen Viola Institute. Masterclasses Heidi Castleman, Jutta Puchammer, David Holland, Daniel Sweeney, Becca Albers and Patricia McCarty and Lawrence Power.
Christoven has varied teaching experience from beginners to Junior College MEP program. He has a passion in providing exposure to the very young and the underprivileged. He has given lessons to the Australian International School, the Nanyang Polytechnic, ACS-junior(p1-2) and the Dayspring Girls Home.
In 2014, Christoven formed the Sophron Quartet. Its inception is the closing for the O.P.E.N. of the Singapore International Arts Festival 2014, titled the Art of Fear.
Kesari Pundarika
Kesari Pundarika is currently pursuing a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music with Martin Outram.
Previously she studied at the Royal College of Music with Ian Jewel.
She has played in masterclasses with Jennifer Stumm, Predrag Katanic, the Emerson String Quartet, and the Fine Arts Quartet.
She has performed at venues such as Faneuil Hall in Boston and the Royal Festival Hall in London, with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Marin Alsop, and Gil Rose, and at festivals including the British Isles Music Festival and the Lake District Summer Music Academy.

ReplyDeleteThey were so accommodating and I was truly impressed. It is such a comfortable environment. For a buffet, it was delicious food. Alcoholic beverages were also great. Overall, San Francisco venues are great, and my favorite venue in the city.
