Royal Academy Meet the Musicians - One

Meet the Musicians - One 
 Stefano Mengoli and Georgia Hannant
  
Stefano Mengoli 

Italian violinist Stefano Mengoli has achieved many different prizes in international competitions, displaying a promising young musician. He studied at the G Frescobaldi Conservatoire in Ferrara with Alessandro Perpich, where he obtained both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees with top marks.  He later moved to the Imola Internation Piano Academy under the invitation of Oleksandr Semchuk and then enrolled to the Royal Academy of Music where he is currently studying with Remus Azoitei. Stefano actively enjoys lessons and masterclasses held by many important contemporary musicians such as L.Spierer, P.Berman, M.Sciarretta, R Podger and M.Fornaciari.

He has worked both as an orchestral musician and soloist, appearing in the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara to perform Prokofiev Violin Concerto Op.19 No.1. In addition, he often takes part in the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras at the Academy.

As a chamber musician Stefano has intensively worked with A.Farulli and F.Lanzoni on string quartet repertoire, and has participated in competitions and a recording of Beethoven Op.18 No.6 for the Vatican Radio. Stefano is now part of the Fitzroy Quartet founded at the Royal Academy of Music in 2015 and winner of the Wolfe Wolfinsohn String Quartet Prize, and following teachings by C.Richter, J.Sleigh and G.Jackson.

Georgia Hannant

Georgia began playing the violin from the age of six and quickly progressed to becoming one of the top players in her home county of Lincolnshire. 
In 2008, she gained a place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, and whilst there took up many opportunities, including ensemble tours to Trinidad and Ischia. Her passion for orchestral music really grew through her membership of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (2009-2011) and she has since played in numerous ensembles, as well as leading the University of London Symphony Orchestra since 2013. 
Georgia studied her Bachelor’s degree in music at King’s College London, and is now a postgraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music. 
As a soloist, Georgia has had the chance to perform concertos with the Darwin Ensemble Chamber Orchestra, the San Diego International Youth Symphony, and the Aldwych Sinfonia.
