Prepare to be impressed by Phil King... at Dart Music Festival

"I am not interested in making music that impresses people, just music that touches people."

Phil King has two albums under his belt (not literally) - 'They Come and They Go' from 2009 and 'Leaves' from 2006. Both received some fantastic press, regional and national.

He has performed all over the UK, at festivals and fayres, in pubs, clubs and bars, on bandstands and boats, and once in a beautiful treehouse...

He performs regularly in Paris and has also played in Berlin, Copenhagen, Zurich, Barcelona, New York and Weston-Super-Mare.

Phil has had his music played on many local radio stations and also by Bob Harris, Steve Lamacq and Alex Lester on BBC Radio 2.

Phil has also composed music for Theatre, Dance, TV and film.

He has worked with Regents Park Open Air Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Laila Diallo, Theatre Rites, Arthur Pita, Redweather Productions and Champloo Dance Company among others.

He has also just finished Jane Eyre at The Old Vic, where he played live music - guitar, singing, double bass and percussion - and acted as part of the ensemble cast in the show.

Phil will be playing at numerous festivals this summer including Bristol Folk Fest, Trowbridge Village Pump Fest, Purbeck Folk Fest, Sidmouth Fringe Fest - and of course last but definitely not least, our own well-loved  Dart Music Festival..!

He'll be doing a European tour in May (London, Lille, Paris, Berlin, Ghent, Copenhagen), which will then be followed by a stint working at Regents Park Open Air Theatre on a production of 'To Kill A Mockingbird', for which he's composed the score for the show and performs the music live.

Just a sample of Phil's many great reviews - for more please visit  reviews page on website: http://phil-king.net/reviews.php).

"Smouldering folk from Venue’s Roots Artist of the Year 2010, Phil King
- Venue Magazine

"Supremely talented Bristol-based singer, Phil King. He has a voice to die for."
- Time Out, London,

"Bristol based singer-songwriter, Phil King, has a lot to give, a great vocalist and lyricist with excellent compositions and variety, he’ s a man that should really get much more attention."
- For Folks Sake

"Bristol based singer songwriter Phil King. Immediately captivating the crowd with his pure yet powerful vocals and his charming vulnerability, his accomplished set is a mixture of Damien Rice style heartfelt balladry, John Martyn guitar picking melancholia and the raw energy of a busker. Here is a man laying his heart wide open, with nothing but his guitar and harmonica for company, to a room full of strangers and that in itself is worthy of respect. The fact his music is also so heart-warmingly good makes being in the crowd a thoroughly enjoyable experience."
