Taiko Journey Family Workshops at Dart Music Festival

TAIKO JOURNEY WORKSHOPS AT DART MUSIC FESTIVAL, 2014

EXPERIENCE THE FUN OF TAIKO DRUMMING!

Taiko Journey will be running family-friendly, short sessions during the Festival - a great way to experience the joy of playing these impressive taiko drums first hand.  You don’t need any experience - you’ll see how easy it is to join in with some simple rhythms that look and sound great.
Esme, aged 8, from Exeter says “Taiko is epic and brilliant, it’s fun and I love it!” So take it from her and join in for some festival fun on the drums!
The sessions will be held in front of The Bandstand, Dartmouth and are suitable for ages 6 - 65+

TAIKO DRUMMING – GETTING INTO THE FESTIVAL SPIRIT WITH THIS ENERGISING WORKSHOP

Originally from Japan, Taiko ensembles harness the transformative power of music-making, whole-bodied movement and the buzz of performing as a group to create a visual show that gets your heart pumping - players and audience alike!

This one hour session will harness the joy of the festival season, encouraging you to get up and join in the music-making.  We’ll start from the basics and soon you’ll be able to play along with a matsuri (Japanese festival) rhythm and experience the joy of being part of a taiko drumming group.  Prepare to be loud, get moving, and to have lots of fun!

This session will be held at The Flavel, Dartmouth.
Please arrive promptly wearing lose comfortable clothing, suitable footwear (no heels please!) and bring a bottle of water as you may get thirsty.

Maximum of 15 participants.  Suitable for ages 14 - 65+; observers welcome (but no unauthorised filming please).
